Consistency in Daily Tasks

Every week people long for the weekend and what it brings. Seeing friends, going to events, and having a break from the same consistency are things people enjoy being able to engage with during the weekend. I would be one of those people who enjoy partaking in weekend events, but also realize the benefits from daily tasks throughout the week.

As a Junior in college who plays a college sports, there are many things I need to accomplish in a week. I have classes, schoolwork, practice, workouts, church, and other groups that I go to on a consistent basis. I believe that these everyday tasks give many benefits that are never considered since our routines are natural. Without our routine and consistency, we become confused and unable to achieve your goals.

As COVID began everyone’s normal changed, which forced everyone to manage what they had. New workplaces, classrooms, and living environments all became meshed into one which forced others to continually adapt as thing began to slowly return to normalcy. From personal experience, I know my overall production went down. Without a normal baseball season, I found myself with an overwhelming amount of time to study. My learning in the classroom decreased due to online learning, disconnect between professors and students, and an amplitude of time. There was also a decrease in the benefits from my workouts since my environment had quickly and largely changed.

COVID is a drastic example of change in normalcy, but it exemplifies how reliant people are on consistency. People found an amplitude of free time and relaxation during COVID, but the relaxation did not feel earned as it would on the weekend. Due to a break in consistency there were daily interactions with professors, coaches, co-workers that seem unimportant, but I believe brighten your day without knowing it.

Moving forward I would motivate other to consider how they go about their daily tasks. This year, I have begun to focus on being consistent in my tasks by making them challenging but realistic. I hope people can consider how important consistency is within their week and how it can positively affect your week.
